Concours

Judged Concours

Ferraris that are at least 5 years old (built in or before September 2021) will be judged against a standard for originality and authenticity. If you are interested in knowing how original/authentic your Ferrari is, please enter your Ferrari(s) for the Concours when you register for the Meet. (Note:  Cars compete against a standard for originality, not against other cars in the class.  All cars earning 97 points or better win a Platino and are considered for a major award.)

The IAC/PFA Guidelines for Concours entrants from the International Advisory Committee for the Preservation of the Ferrari Automobile will give you greater insight into how cars are judged and what factors are more and less important to the final score.

Be sure to bring documentation on your car — Most Ferraris are unique.  Many of the older cars have been restored so bring documentation in case the judges question the originality of the restoration.  For newer, unrestored cars, bring the original/copy of the documentation that shows how the car was originally delivered.  If, for example, your car came with options that were not on the base car, such as badges, carbon fiber, brakes/rotors, grills, etc. be prepared to show the documentation.  Note that dealers often have this information in their database.

Preservation Class

For Ferraris that are at least 30 years old (built in or before September 1996) and have been kept as original as possible.

Cars can enter for either the regular Concours Class judging OR for Preservation judging, but not both. Note that cars in the Preservation Class are held to a different standard than in regular Concours Class judging. In the Preservation Class the priority is given more to unrestored originality and less to overall condition.

Therefore, while a particular car might be penalized for a deteriorated condition in the regular Concours Class, that same car’s deficiencies are less likely to be penalized in the Preservation Class, enabling an unrestored car to score higher in the Preservation Class than it might in the regular Concours Class.

It is recognized that most cars have had some repair over the years, and we are looking to see how much care was taken to preserve as much of the original paint or interior as possible.  Download Preservation Class Guidance (rev 12/15)

Futuro Classico

Exciting News! Our concours day event, Futuro Classico, is evolving. This event designed for modern Ferraris (5 years or less) is changing from an evaluation of total originality to a showcase of the latest and greatest examples of our members creative talents, taking full advantage of Ferrari’s Tailor Made Program.

We are introducing The People’s Choice Award. It is an integral and popular feature in a number of concours around the world. It will be harkening back to the early days of the concours d’ elegance. That is to say, cars will be judged for their sense of style and design recognizing the endless possibilities afforded by the Tailor Made Program. It will give all attendees the ability to vote on their favorite example of a members’ enhancement of an already fabulous design.
The field will be limited to 20 cars in its own corral on the concours field. The cars must be in their original form as they were delivered from the factory, with no aftermarket personalization. There will be a People’s Choice Trophy, awarded during the Concours Class Awards Ceremony and all entrants will receive a dash placard and a commemorative medallion.

For Ferraris less than five years old (built October 2020 or later). These cars will be evaluated for total originality with all the options and accessories that came with the car. Entrants must bring two copies of the build sheet or original invoice for their car. Entrants whose cars are determined to be original will receive a Futuro Classico medallion. A maximum of 10 entries are accepted each year. You are advised to sign up early. Download Futuro Classico Guidelines & Checklist (rev 8/23)

Coppa Events

Coppa Bella Macchina

This is a 100% pass or fail test to see if everything on your Ferrari operates as it should, both while parked and while being driven over a short road course. Only cars that first receive a Platino award in the Concours earlier in the day will be judged in the Coppa Bella Macchina (CBM).

Requirement – Entrants must receive 97 points (Platino) or higher in the Concours or Preservation Class before they are eligible to compete in the CBM.

To enter the Coppa Bella Macchina, you must sign up for both the Judged Concours (or Preservation Class) and the Coppa Bella Macchina when you register for the Meet. Note that entries for the CBM are limited so you are advised to sign up early. Download Coppa Bella Macchina Competition Rules and Test Requirements (2025).

The Coppa Bella Macchina evaluation and road test will take place starting about 2:00 pm on June 29th adjacent to the Concours Field at Monticello Motor Club.

For further information concerning the CBM event, contact CBM Chief Judge, Duncan McPherson, at rduncanmcpherson@gmail.com.

Coppa GT

The Coppa GT Award is the highest award an individual can receive at the FCA Annual Meet. To qualify to compete for this award, the car must first receive a Platino award in the Concours and then must pass the Coppa Bella Macchina evaluation. In the Coppa GT, the car’s owner must demonstrate his/her driving capabilities on the track, taking the car into consideration. No more than three (3) Coppa GTs are awarded each annual meet. A newer car with more modern equipment will not have an advantage over an older Ferrari. To enter this competition, be sure to check the boxes for Concours judging, Coppa Bella Macchina, and Coppa GT. Of course, Coppa GT entrants must also sign up for the 2-day track event at Monticello Motor Club. The Coppa GT driving evaluation will take place during the lunch hour or ss the chief judge designates on Wednesday, July 1

Download Coppa GT Scoring Criteria (rev 6/23).
The Coppa GT awards are generously sponsored by Dennis and Susan Garrity.

If you intend to do well in the Coppa GT, you will need to practice and gain track experience with your car during at least a few track events prior to the Annual Meet. Where possible, it is highly recommended that one of these track events be on the track to be used for the Coppa GT evaluation.
